Alexa is a final-year chemistry student at BMSZC Petrik Lajos Bilingual Technical School. She has also been a Bridge Scholarship student at Milestone Institute since 2021, where the completion of more than ten eight-week English language modules in social sciences has deepened her interest in cultural anthropology, sociology and political philosophy. She then developed an interest in social entrepreneurship and participated in the 2022 Samsung x EdisonKids incubation competition with her classmates, where they finished third place. Later that year, Alexa and five fellow students founded the Támpont Organisation, which helps provide menstrual products to homeless women and abused mothers. They participated in the 2022 Social Impact Award incubation project, where the organization won the jury prize and received funding. In 2023, as part of a Támpont campaign, she gave a speech on the stage of TEDx Liberty Bridge Women, where she aimed to raise awareness about the phenomenon of the ‘male gaze’ and its impact on Hungarian girls. During the summer, she started working as an intern at the non-profit organization Impact Hub, where she experienced the beauty of research by conducting a study on the social entrepreneurial ecosystem in Hungary.

She then researched how gender-specific trends on TikTok, such as “clean girl”, “girlboss”, and “girl-math”, are changing the perception of girlhood among Hungarian adolescent girls. The research has been published in the journal Jakobsleiter and was awarded first place in the Research Proposal section at the TUDOK Carpathian Basin Final. She was then invited to the XXVIII National Student Conference in Káptalanfüred, where she was elected Deputy Head of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department of the Hungarian Research Student Association. She is passionate about bringing learning opportunities to as many students as possible, and KutDiák provides an excellent framework for this.

It’s an incredible feeling to be part of such a motivating environment, full of enthusiastic, open-minded and inclusive people. I felt I wanted to be part of KutDiák from the moment we danced ‘ördögútja’ after the sessions at the first thematic conference. My goal is to deepen the interest in research in my fellow students, and contribute to the building of this amazing community in as many ways as I can.
